Join Our Next 10-Week Web Development Course!
We are thrilled to announce that Girls Tech Together is launching another exciting 10-week curriculum focused on web development! This course is open to all girls in grades 4th to 8th who are eager to dive into the world of coding and create their own websites. There is no background knowledge required for this course!
Course Overview
Our interactive coding program is designed to introduce elementary and middle school girls to the fundamentals of web development. Over the course of 10 weeks, students will learn and apply key web technologies, including:
- HTML (HyperText Markup Language): The backbone of web pages, students will learn how to structure content using elements, attributes, and nesting.
- CSS (Cascading Style Sheets): Students will discover how to style their web pages, from changing colors and fonts to creating layouts using Flexbox and Grid.
- JavaScript: The programming language of the web, where students will learn to add interactivity to their sites by manipulating the DOM (Document Object Model).
Topics Covered
Students will be taught basic concepts as well as some of the following topics:
- Responsive Design: Techniques for making websites look great on all devices, including the use of media queries.
- Flexbox and Grid Layouts: Advanced CSS layout modules that allow for the creation of complex, flexible, and responsive designs.
- Basic JavaScript DOM Manipulation: Understanding how to dynamically update the content and style of web pages in response to user interactions.
